Wedding travel checklist

  • Passport

    • Must have 6 months+ validity from the day you land in South Africa

  • Flights Booked

  • E-SIM

    • If your phone has E-SIM capability, we highly recommend getting one for your stay in South Africa as it can be much cheaper than international roaming charges!

      • Our recommendation: Airlo

  • Download Ride Share Apps - this is our primary recommendation for how to get around South Africa. Rides are affordable especially when traveling with others!

    • Uber

    • Bolt - another app that works in Cape Town (it’s one we use frequently in the UK)

  • International Drivers License (if planning to rent a car)

    • AAA - Note not all rental companies require this; please check in advance. Note: South Africa does drive on the opposite side of the road than the US.

  • Hotel Bookings

    • See our guide on places to stay

    • You can also book a stay at the Stellenbosch Hotel where we have block booked rooms for check in Friday, 4th April with a check out of 6th April.

    • Note, there are also many options places to stay in and around Stellenbosch including many wine farms, Airbnbs, and boutique hotels!

  • Restaurant Bookings

    • For some of the nice restaurants, bookings go quickly

  • Other Bookings (Tours, Safaris, Vineyards, and more)
